10-Year Warranty on Waldmann Writing Instruments

International Warranty
A writing instrument from Waldmann is a statement of timeless elegance, lasting value, and exceptional quality. Waldmann guarantees the authenticity of the materials used, meticulous craftsmanship, and flawless functionality of every single piece. Each component undergoes rigorous quality controls to ensure it meets the highest standards. When you choose a Waldmann writing instrument, you are selecting a premium product crafted from solid 925 sterling silver.

10-Year Warranty on Waldmann Writing Instruments
Waldmann offers a 10-year warranty on its writing instruments, valid from the date of purchase. This warranty covers any manufacturing defects. However, it does not cover damage resulting from loss, theft, accidents, normal wear and tear, or misuse. Damage caused by improper handling, intentional destruction, or interventions by unauthorized third parties is also excluded. Furthermore, the warranty does not apply if accessories not produced or recommended by Waldmann - such as ink cartridges, converters, refills, mechanisms, or other components - are used. The warranty excludes damage due to aging or contact with substances such as creams, perfumes, shampoos, household and industrial cleaners, chemicals, or perspiration. These can accelerate surface wear and cause deterioration over time.

Warranty Certificate
To claim warranty services, you must present the Waldmann Warranty Certificate. This certificate must be fully completed, include the purchase date, and be signed by an authorized Waldmann retailer. The warranty provides you with specific legal rights; additional rights may apply depending on your country of residence.

Natural Wear of Writing Instruments
It’s important to note that metal parts with galvanic coatings are subject to natural wear over time - even under normal use. This process is accelerated by contact with perspiration from the hands. Factors such as the use of skin creams, perfumes, certain medications, and dietary habits can further intensify this effect. How quickly the surface wears depends largely on individual usage conditions.

The salts contained in perspiration vary in concentration and can have different levels of impact on metal surfaces. The higher the salt content, the more aggressive the reaction, meaning fingerprints can leave more than just visible marks. What often appears as a simple smudge may actually be corrosion - etched into the metal by the acidic content of perspiration. Even stainless steel is not immune to this process, and, over time, metals may show signs of rusting as a result.

While perspiration consists of 99% water, the remaining 1% includes salts and fats - both of which play a key role in how the skin interacts with metal surfaces. Other substances such as urea, amino acids, and sugars are present but have little influence in this regard. It’s important to understand that even healthy hands produce perspiration. The palms (like the soles of the feet) have a high concentration of sweat glands, meaning that every hand, even if it doesn’t feel damp, releases moisture that can leave acidic residues on surfaces. These residues don’t just dirty the surface; they can cause actual damage.

Notes on Leather and Wood
Leather and wood are premium natural materials. Variations in color, grain, and dimensions are characteristic features of these materials and serve as proof of their authenticity. Changes in color and signs of wear over time are completely normal and do not constitute defects or grounds for warranty claims. Cleaning an assembled writing instrument - or individual components - in water or ultrasonic baths can cause damage if not done correctly. Improper cleaning will void the warranty.
