Kaweco BRASS Sport push pencil 0.7 mm

Product information "Kaweco BRASS Sport push pencil 0.7 mm"

The impressive heavyweight of the Sport series, the BRASS Sport, is turned from first-class brass. The mechanical pencil is one of the heaviest Kaweco pens. The barrel is manufactured in a complex process to create this stunning piece of German engineering.

For the Kaweco mechanical pencil there are the matching 0.7 mm leads here in the shop.

In the beginning of the industrial age pens were made of hard rubber. Ebonite, as it was also called, was only polished. Even brass was already used for pen parts. But it was more for the trimmings such as clip and decorative rings. Only the cartridge technology made it possible to reflect on other materials since the ink does not directly and permanently come into contact with the metals. So in daily use the brass can develop its natural patina. Around 1550 brass was “cast” in a targeted way for the first time and thus offered a variety of applications.

Kaweco SPECIAL push pencil brass 0.7 mm
The Kaweco SPECIAL pencil with the 0.7 mm mechanism in the raw brass version presents itself convincingly. Under the highly polished surface, the pencil's symphatic character hides in the form of a developing patina. The metal oxidizes after some time and turns blackish. This makes every SPECIAL a special, personal working tool. The mechanisms are extremely reliable and the 0.7 mm leads are perfect for drawing thin lines without breaking the lead with a slightly higher pressure. The brass of the SPECIAL is a metal, called the Eco Brass. This type of brass can be produced in an environmentally friendly manner without any lead. Kaweco produced e.g. the Kaweco LILIPUT cap ballpen brass for a time exclusively for Greenpeace. Because of this production the SPECIAL is a very sustainable writing and drawing device. Visually, the pencil is beautiful. The characteristic octagonal shape of Kaweco in combination with the gold-color brass is an eyecatcher. The silver-colored tip of the mechanism, the engraving and the silver logo on the push button complement the timeless design. For this Kaweco SPECIAL we recommend Kaweco pencil leads with a diameter of 0.7 mm. Since 1930, the SPECIAL series has been available in this design. The typical features of the Kaweco SPECIAL pencils were from the beginning a simple, octagonal shape and a push button with grooves to improve the handle. Initially, the Kaweco SPECIAL pencils were made of hard rubber and later made of celluloid. Today, there is an aluminum SPECIAL series and this, SPECIAL brass. The surface-changing brass is used as a design element and reliable, long-term tested mechanisms are installed. Available are 0.5mm, 0.7mm, 0.9mm and 2.0mm push pencils. Perfect for all types of drawings. No matter if technical drawing, creative sketching or simply writing, the Kaweco SPECIAL brass pencil can convince us.  In the series there is also a ballpoint pen and a fountain pen with a big variety of nibs to choose. Each writing instrument of the Kaweco brass SPECIAL series will develop a patina as the metal oxidizes. It is wanted that the surface changes and thus no defect.

Kaweco SKETCH UP clutch pencil brass raw 5.6mm
The Kaweco SKETCH UP has a comfortable weight for writing and drawing because it is made out of brass. The raw version of the SKETCH UP is made without surface protection and the pen becomes a patina with the time. If you don't like that you can also go for the satin-chrome version. For the Kaweco clutch pencil there are many matching 5.6 mm leads here at mostwanted. The earliest preserved exemplar of a mechanical pencil was found in the wreck of HMS Pandora which sank in 1791. The frigate was sent out to arrest the mutineers of the Bounty. Kaweco has been producing all kinds of mechanical pencils since the beginning of the 19th century. The Kaweco clutch pencils have become very popular in the fifties, the heyday of technical drawing. Until this very day the clutch pencils of the SKETCH UP series have been a pleasure drawing pencil.
