Design C was created exclusively for Otto Hutt’s 100th anniversary. The design, a masterpiece of minimalist elegance by Marc Braun, is distinguished by unique details. The back of Design C is enhanced with intricate engravings, such as the “Made in Germany” hallmark, the individual serial number on the cap, the Otto Hutt logo, and the symbol for pure 925/- sterling silver, which forms the core of the fountain pen. These engravings serve as a helpful guide when refilling the writing instrument. When the Otto Hutt logo aligns with the mark at the end of the barrel, it signifies that the pen is in its final writing position.
The fountain pen is crafted from 925/- sterling silver and is flawlessly made. The writing unit is coated with a matte black PVD finish, setting ergonomic standards. The index on both the barrel and cap is crafted from solid 18kt yellow gold, replacing the traditional clip. The intricate Pull & Twist mechanism of Design C is a world-first innovation. A gentle pull brings the mechanism into the filling position, allowing the pen to be dipped into the ink bottle and then twisted back to draw ink through the 18kt gold nib.
The anniversary edition also includes a leather case made from whale leather, which offers both protection and security. The leather is a sustainably sourced, plant-tanned, and untreated natural product from southern Germany. During the production process, the leather is soaked, carefully shaped, and heated. The Design C comes in a striking silver collector’s box, along with the leather case, a silver polishing cloth, a bottle of document-safe ink, a 40-page 100YRS booklet with instructions, and a numerical authenticity certificate. The total silver weight is 34 grams, and the gold weight is 1 gram. The Limited Edition is available in fine, medium, and broad nib sizes.
