The Kaweco SPECIAL pencil brass is made from Eco Brass. This special brass type can be made environmentally friendly and lead-free. But not only this is SPECIAL about that writing and drawing device. The 0.5 mm mechanism is only built and used by a few manufacturers. The most popular pencils are 0.7 mm thick. Visually, the SPECIAL brass pencil is a highlight. Despite the minimalist and elegant form, the pencil seems to be luxurious thanks to the high-gloss polished brass. But the first impression can deceive. It looks a lot more exciting after a while, as the pen develops a patina. The raw brass oxidizes and becomes blackish. The symphatic character of the SPECIAL hides under the polished surface. Suitable for this Kaweco SPECIAL print pencil are the Kaweco pencil leads with a diameter of 0.5 mm. Mines from other manufacturers can also be used. However, the length of the mines should be taken into account. We recommend the manufacturer's mines to avoid complications. Since ca.1930 the SPECIAL series already exists in quite similar form. From the start, the features of the Kaweco SPECIAL office pencils were a simple, octagonal shape and a push button with grooves to improve the grip. At the beginning the Kaweco SPECIAL pencils were made from hard rubber and later from celluloid. Today, there is an aluminum SPECIAL series and this, special brass.
