The Diplomat twist pencil Oxyd Iron offers a carbon-gray all-metal housing, on which the polishing lines are visible. The color of the writing instrument is achieved by oxidation. The fitting parts are high-gloss chrome-plated. The pencil is delivered with a lead in a stroke of 0.7 mm. For the lead feed provides a stepless twist mechanism. The cap is decorated with a spring-loaded full metal clip.

In the beginning of the industrial age pens were made of hard rubber. Ebonite, as it was also called, was only polished. Even brass was already used for pen parts. But it was more for the trimmings such as clip and decorative rings. Only the cartridge technology made it possible to reflect on other materials since the ink does not directly and permanently come into contact with the metals. So in daily use the brass can develop its natural patina. Around 1550 brass was “cast” in a targeted way for the first time and thus offered a variety of applications.
