Since then the Kaweco SPECIAL pencils were made of hard rubber and years later made of celluloid. Now the SPECIAL series is offered in an alunimium and a brass version. Available are 0.5mm, 0.7mm, 0.9mm and 2.0mm pencils with push mechanism. Ideal for any drawings. No matter whether technically drawing, creatively sketching or simply writing, the Kaweco SPECIAL brass push pencil can do it.

In addition to the mechanical pencils there is also a fountain pen with a great selection of nibs and a ballpoint pen. Each pen of the series develops a patina, it oxidizes. This is the intention of the manufacturer and is therefore not a mistake or defect.

The Kaweco SKETCH UP has a comfortable weight for writing and drawing because it is made out of brass. The raw version of the SKETCH UP is made without surface protection and the pen becomes a patina with the time. If you don't like that you can also go for the satin-chrome version. For the Kaweco clutch pencil there are many matching 5.6 mm leads here at mostwanted. The earliest preserved exemplar of a mechanical pencil was found in the wreck of HMS Pandora which sank in 1791. The frigate was sent out to arrest the mutineers of the Bounty. Kaweco has been producing all kinds of mechanical pencils since the beginning of the 19th century. The impressive heavyweight of the Sport series, the BRASS Sport, is turned from first-class brass. The mechanical pencil is one of the heaviest Kaweco pens. The barrel is manufactured in a complex process to create this stunning piece of German engineering. For the Kaweco mechanical pencil there are the matching 0.7 mm leads here in the shop. In the beginning of the industrial age pens were made of hard rubber. Ebonite, as it was also called, was only polished. Even brass was already used for pen parts. But it was more for the trimmings such as clip and decorative rings. Only the cartridge technology made it possible to reflect on other materials since the ink does not directly and permanently come into contact with the metals. So in daily use the brass can develop its natural patina. Around 1550 brass was “cast” in a targeted way for the first time and thus offered a variety of applications.
