Each item is finally being polished and refined with different surfaces. Despite of aluminium it has a solid weight and sympathetic surface feeling. The requirements on the AL Sport are high. Small, however big enough for comfortable writing. Robust but not too heavy. By modern CNC technique and the use of high-quality aluminium today it is possible to realise the AL Sport. A big program of perfect ink cartridges for the Kaweco fountain pen you can get here in our shop. Already in 1905 Kaweco manufactured the first writing instruments made of metal. Which was produced with silver or gold plated brass in the past, is today manufactured from the lighter aluminium material.

Kaweco BRASS Sport push pencil 0.7 mm

The impressive heavyweight of the Sport series, the BRASS Sport, is turned from first-class brass. The mechanical pencil is one of the heaviest Kaweco pens. The barrel is manufactured in a complex process to create this stunning piece of German engineering. For the Kaweco mechanical pencil there are the matching 0.7 mm leads here in the shop. In the beginning of the industrial age pens were made of hard rubber. Ebonite, as it was also called, was only polished. Even brass was already used for pen parts. But it was more for the trimmings such as clip and decorative rings. Only the cartridge technology made it possible to reflect on other materials since the ink does not directly and permanently come into contact with the metals. So in daily use the brass can develop its natural patina. Around 1550 brass was “cast” in a targeted way for the first time and thus offered a variety of applications.

There are only a few writing instruments which have been successful in the market for decades without big changes. One of them is the Kaweco CLASSIC Sport. It follows the design of the year 1935. A pocket fountain pen which everyone could carry anywhere. Sepp Herberger already appreciated these characteristics. It was with a Kaweco Sport that the former coach of the German national soccer team wrote on a piece of paper his winning tactics which brought the Germans to the world cup in 1954.
